This is the error code that I get from the .bat file on my forge 1.12 server

 

A problem occurred running the Server launcher.java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException
        at java.base/jdk.internal.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method)
        at java.base/jdk.internal.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(Unknown Source)
        at java.base/jdk.internal.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(Unknown Source)
        at java.base/java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Unknown Source)
        at net.minecraftforge.fml.relauncher.ServerLaunchWrapper.run(ServerLaunchWrapper.java:70)

You need to use Java 8, if you have Java 9 or later installed use the full path to the Java 8 exe rather than just java.

This is my Forum Signature, I am currently attempting to transform it into a small guide for fixing easier issues using spoiler blocks to keep things tidy.

 

As the most common issue I feel I should put this outside the main bulk:

The only official source for Forge is https://files.minecraftforge.net, and the only site I trust for getting mods is CurseForge.

If you use any site other than these, please take a look at the StopModReposts project and install their browser extension, I would also advise running a virus scan.

Re-install... you're missing a library that's embedded in the Vanilla Jar

 

Edit: and I mean use the Forge installer, don't just drop the universal into the server

can you help me? it is for 1.8 but the same problem. here is the error message:

1) 1.8 is a hair’s width from being deemed an auto-lock version (one that mods will automatically reply with a message to the tune of “Update, that version is ancient” and lock the thread).

 

2) Please don’t hijack threads with “I have the same issue”. Make your own thread please.
